Who is Cristina?

What you need to know (maybe?)

There are two sides of me:

  • The “Performer” side – which has brought me to act and sing on many stages (and in front of cameras) around the world, and work on the emotional, empathic side, as well as the technical part of performing in front of people & on camera.
  • The Corporate side – which allowed me to work in the most diverse work-environments: from events to tourism, from sales to community managing and customer success, through which I learn so much on effective communication and problem-solving.
  • From a Combo of these two, here I am, offering my expertise to you.

    what to expect

I don’t believe in “a specific method”. I rather work on “The method”, which is: what works for YOU! Monologues, dialogues, comedy, drama, improv, conference speeches, podcasts, self-confidence… we will work on what you need.

Once you find your “key”, you can play any role, you can be confident, natural, memorable.
Therefore my role is to guide you in achieving your goals and overcoming what -well, so far!- are your limits.

A session with me is dynamic, practical, unconventional. No slacking off is allowed.

    To teach, or to Perform?

and why I hamletically love both so much

Being on stage or behind a camera is a wonderful and powerful thing, and I strongly believe that GIVING is the main word for a performer.
    We are feelings-givers, heart-fillers, breath-takers, dream-dispensers.

When teaching came along, I realized is not that far from performing as I thought.
I watch my clients from all around the world improve and observe them getting deeper into self-discovery and one by one, overcome their blocks and fears – just like I did when I was learning (and still do).

In both teaching and performing, I give, generously.
But what I get back, well… THAT…That is what I live for.

    Bio

    Long

CONTEXT: Cristina, aka me, was born and raised in Italy. More specifically, in the South of Italy. Apulia, the “land of Trulli”, good food, olive trees, and, of course, the Land of Magic.

You just can’t grow up wanting to be an international spy. You want to be an Artist.

CHILDHOOD: I started taking ballet classes when I was 4. Mostly because I was a pest, I guess my parents thought I needed some ballet to learn some manners and to help me digest the huge nonna’s mains, based on parmigiana and orecchiette with bolognese. This aside, I actually enjoyed dancing. To the day of today, is the discipline that makes me feel most free and invincible.

TEENAGE: I was lucky enough to get admitted to the Academic Programme of Acting at the early age of 14 while attending high school. (liceo linguistico-with focus on foreign languages)

Of course, I learned a lot in those 4 years at “Accademia Unika”: respect for the stage and the group, reliability, punctuality, staying focused and above all, being passionate, and understanding what sacrifice is- how is it to immerse yourself for a higher cause.

It is thanks to singing that I started working on foreign language pronunciation – more than in school.

FIRST PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: I was 18 when during an acting Masterclass, I got the proposal for my first leading role. And guess what?? I was going to be a Greek princess, who, according to the legend, had the power of predicting terrible things, and for this reason, she was getting mocked and abused.
Yay!!! Give an Italian actress a #dramatic role and she will be your faithful servant.
I will always be grateful to Andrea Cramarossa (the writer and director of the play) for the role of Cassandra, and, later on, for the “Jellyfish Princess” role in the WWF educational theatre, and for all the other performances we worked at together. #seemycv

COMMEDIA DELL’ARTE: In 2013 I won a spot in the IMake Academy for the Commedia dell’Arte Masterclass.
Some would argue: -uh, that’s an old art! You just wear a #WeirdLeatherMask and empathise your movements, but trust me, there’s a whole interesting world of history and techniques behind every single move. And it’s damn hard -and fun.
We created a Theatre Company, put up a “Pop-tragic-comedy show” in the Commedia dell’Arte style, and even managed to perform it in an ancient authentic Greek Theatre (yes, in Greece!)- and that, THAT my friend, was absolute real goosebumps. It was like I could still hear the echoes of centuries and centuries of acting.

MUSICAL THEATRE: But there is one thing I haven’t mentioned yet in this Biography, #Iknowyouwanttogo #Italianschatalot, and is my deep love for musical theatre. Since I act, sing and dance, it is a perfect match for me. My beloved Maria Laura Baccarini initiated me to it in her amazing workshops.
So, at 19, as I did my first audition for a musical theatre show in Rome (the capital, that for me coming from Bari, was a big thing!!), I got two roles, and got to perform in the Sistina Theatre (a pretty prestigious venue over here)

    OVERSEAS AND TRAVELS:
AUSTRALIA: In December 2013, I finally got that one-way ticket for Australia for my personal challenge: making it in an English Speaking Country.

At first, I attended the Summer Acting Residency at the prestigious NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Arts – in Sydney)
Work-wise, I performed and got featured in various plays and projects in Sydney and Melbourne #seemycv

Most importantly, in Sydney I ticked two items off my #bucketlist: being a Monologist at the 2016 Sydney Biennale – hence, “transforming myself into an ACTUAL piece of art” for the world-famous artist Germaine Kruipp; and finally performing, in 2017, at the illustrious Sydney Opera House, as Female actress in two Operas directed by Michieletto.

INDONESIA: I spent 2018 on and off Bali. This is where I went more in-depth with the private coaching for the wide ex-pat community there.

USA: Between 2018 and 2020 I spent six months in NYC, where I could learn some new skills and acting tricks from the performing arts capital.

MILAN: I also spent part of 2019 in Milan, where I experienced a bit of the fashion capital of the Country (or should I be ambitious and say World?) and got a chance to work on live singing performances, and on camera.

    NOW
What, now? 2020 was quite a challenge. Thought it has taught me to digitalise quite more, which is not too bad after all, considering I have clients all around the world.

SCREEN ACTING What about screen acting? I love it.
You’d say, is there something you don’t love? I mean, if you love the
theatre you can’t love the camera. Wrong.
It’s like you want to ask a kid if he prefers a Schnitzel with French fries or chocolate cake. They are two different dishes.
I took screen acting classes in Italy, Sydney and NYC – and worked on quite a few sets, but mostly in short movies and advertisements, looking to expand my horizons.
