SNOW WHITE’S SHADES – A Performative Utterance

Acting, Performing Acts

Platforms Project 2026 · Athens · 17 September 2026

Snow White’s Shades explores the shadow side of one of the most familiar fairy tales. Snow White may stay innocent only because everything “unacceptable” in her, like anger, hunger and refusal, has been pushed onto the Evil Queen. The piece lets those parts back in.

It is a silent performance for two performers, told only through the body, objects and masks. Nassia Zei plays Snow White, exactly as the audience expects her. I play the Evil Queen, her alter ego. The Queen dresses her, puts on her the masks of the Mirror, the Dwarf and the Prince, and keeps transforming herself. In the end the two women become one whole person.

Conceived by Nassia Zei.
Performers: Cristina Siciliano, Nassia Zei.
Presented by adARTes at the Plaforms Project 2026 at the Former Public Tobacco Factory, Athens.
